Climatologies of actual evapotranspiration (AET) over Canada and historical variations in water budgets are assessed and used to retrieve dynamically changing spatial pattern of AET over Canada for a 40-year baseline period. Sample of 144 primary and 2380 secondary Canadian meteorological stations formed a framework to produce hourly observed surface meteorology forcings at 134 point locations including hourly short wave solar radiation, dry and dew temperatures, surface pressure and wind speed. Produced AET regional changes are analyzed vs. regional changes in driving meteo-forcings. Effects of spatial resolution on evapotranspiration at regional scale are assessed.

Results are to be distributed via Canada Water Accounts.

Regional water cycle examples are presented depicting changes in available water resources.
